Celtic House B&B in Kilkenny - Historic B&B with Artist Hosts and Full Irish Breakfast

Artistic Hosts and Communal Spaces

Celtic House B&B is run by Angela and John, a published authoress and a painter designated as Lonely Planet goodwill ambassadors. Guests can browse Angela's books in the kitchen and admire artwork throughout the house. A communal kitchen fosters guest interaction and is available for light meal preparation and tea.

Comfortable Rooms and In-Room Amenities

Each of the spacious deluxe double rooms includes an en suite bathroom, a flat-screen TV, and tea and coffee making facilities. Rooms offer garden or city views, with upper-floor windows framing St. Mary's Cathedral and Kilkenny Castle. Soundproofing and daily housekeeping contribute to a restful stay, though the building has no lift and stairs are narrow.

Hearty Breakfast Options

A full Irish breakfast is served daily from 8:30 to 9:30 am in a light, airy dining room. Alternatives include continental, à la carte, and vegetarian breakfasts, with fresh juice, cheese, and fruits on offer. For early departures, hosts sometimes prepare a takeaway fruit pack upon request.

Prime City Centre Location

Celtic House B&B sits on a quiet street a 5-minute walk from Kilkenny Railway Station and 800 metres from Kilkenny Castle. Guests can stroll to St. Canice's Cathedral, Smithwick's Experience, and the city's shops and pubs without needing a car. Free on-site private parking is available, a rare convenience in central Kilkenny.

Family-Friendly Accommodations

Rooms can accommodate families, with deluxe double rooms offering an extra single bed for a third guest. The quiet neighbourhood and walking distance to attractions like Mount Juliet Golf Club and Carlow College suit family exploration. Children are welcome, and the hosts provide local insights into family-friendly activities in the area.

“Celtic House B&B strikes me as a Kilkenny stay steeped in genuine Irish hospitality, where the hosts-themselves local artists-enrich the experience beyond the usual. I see a certain appeal in its artistic decor and communal kitchen, encouraging a more connected visit. For those seeking a family-friendly base near Kilkenny Castle, this B&B certainly warrants consideration.”

tasty breakfast great location thin curtains bright lights
The breakfast was amazing! I had a full Irish breakfast every morning and it was very tasty. The location was super too because it was within walking distance from the train station!
Our room could have definitely used some blackout curtains! There were several very bright lights on the street outside and our curtains were so thin I had a difficult time sleeping because of the brightness of the room.
